Carol Kihm, Harpist
Event Entertainment: She has performed
for events in various locations across the
US including areas of Idaho, Utah and
California, Washington, D.C., Houston,
Chicago, Minneapolis and Hawaii. Her
repertoire consists of standard musical
styles including classical, contemporary
pop, Broadway, old standards, religious,
Celtic and seasonal. She provides solo and
background music for wedding ceremonies
and receptions, open houses, banquets, and
many other types of social gatherings.
Education: Starting with piano lessons at the age of 6, Carol Kihm went on to begin harp studies at age 15
with Suzann Davids in Denver, Colorado.  Other teachers she has worked with are Steven Hartman in
Chicago, Suzanne Balderston at the Summer Music Academy in Santa Barbara, Susan Allen and Stella
Castellucci at The Summer Harp Course in Pacific Palisades and, most recently, Beverly Wesner-Hoehn in
Sacramento. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Idaho State University and
plans to begin working
on a Master of Music degree in Harp Performance at California State University Sacramento in the Fall of
2010.
Harp Teacher: While living in Idaho, Carol enjoyed teaching more than 30 private harp and piano students.
Having completed extra University credits in music education, in 1998 she relocated to Northern California
where she taught K-12 music for two years at the "I AM School in Mt. Shasta. She now resides in
Sacramento, California with her husband and two children where she continues to teach private harp
lessons in addition to her freelance work.
Orchestral and Chamber Performance: Carol has had extensive ensemble experience performing with
orchestras, concert choirs, instrumental duets and other
chamber ensembles. In addition to her 10 years as
resident harpist in the Idaho State Civic Symphony, she spent the 1993-94 season with the Lake Shore
Symphony Orchestra in Chicago. More recently she has
worked with various orchestras in Sacramento
and surrounding areas including
subbing in the Modesto Symphony, the Sacramento Choral Society
Orchestra
and the Sacramento Philharmonic for 2009 performance of the Sacramento Ballet Nutcracker.
Carol has also performed often with the UC Davis Symphony and the Sacramento Youth Symphony and
currently serves as principal harpist of the Camellia Symphony Orchestra in Sacramento and the Folsom
Lake Symphony Orchestra.
